[ucc-announce] Call for donations for new fileserver/user machine

Hi all,

UCC is going to buy a new fileserver and user box, but we need your
donations to make it happen. Exactly what we get will depend on how much
we get in donations, but it will look something like this:

Dual 242 Opteron CPUs (64 bit, 1.6GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
4 200GB SATA hard drives (to be set up in RAID 1+0)
2 GB DDR RAM
Tyan Tiger Dual Opteron motherboard, with gigE onboard
plus case/psu etc.

This will cost about $3800, so using the 50% donations, 50% club funds
rule we need $1900 in donations. More donations means we can get a better
motherboard, more RAM, bigger drives or faster CPUs, so be generous. Email
me your pledge, with money to be collected in a week or two.
