We had major sucess with the cleanup (thanks to all who attended) and the room is looking alot better. The next thing that needs to be taken care of is the Fresher Guide. In order to get this done, we'll be having a writing night this Thursday (5th of Feb). We'll start at 5pm and go through until 11pm. Last year's guide will be used as a base and we'll add/update information as we need. I strongly encourage you all to come and participate. Hoping to see you there, Rowan UCC Vice President -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... We still have some more things to do around the club, we're not out of the woods yet! On monday, we will be having a computer fix up day. We have quite a few machines in various states on functionallity sitting in and about the clubroom. Our plan is to get as many of those functioning as we can. We will attempt to build at least 2 windows and 1 linux machine out of what we have, but more would be better. I encourage everyone to attend to help out, if you're handy with a screwdriver, we need you! Futhermore, due to the last cleanup being truely epic, we completely filled the skip, with lots of junk left over. As such, we will be completing the cleanup on Monday as well. Nothing major, we just need to transport stuff down to the skip. UCC will be open from 10am on Monday, with people around throughout the day. They stole the Unigames money box, damaged some of the cupboards in the hall and made a mess of the Marjong clubs chips. I managed to chase one of them down and deliver a very stern warning against coming back. After that particular altercation, I informed security. As such, I feel it appropriate to send out a reminder of what to do if they should show up at Cameron Hall again. The two people in question are both aged between 16 and 19, so roughly high school aged. Both are short and tanned. One has short dark hair and the other has bleached blonde hair. If you should see these people, or any other's who look like they are of high school age (we have had trouble with Shenton Park kids in the past), IMMEDIATELY call security. Their number is 6488 3020. We are taking no more risks with these people and giving them no more chances. Ignore anything they say, disregard any excuse they come up with. Call security immediate and advise them we have trespassers. Should they become violent and you feel unsafe, lock the door to UCC. Do not under any circumstances attempt to confront them physically. UCC does not condone violence against these people and if they should do anything, we want to be squeaky clean. Furthermore, until the start of semester, I suggest additional security measures be taken around cameron hall. For a start, leave the back door (the fire exit) closed at all times. You may exit through it, but please make sure it closes and locks behind you. When you want to come back in, use the front door instead. As for the front door and stairwell, keep both the bottom and top doors closed. If there are people in UCC, there is no need to lock them, but keeping them closed will make us aware whenever someone comes through. Also, most importantly, if you are the last people in UCC, when you leave, ensure that all doors are locked. This includes the fire exit, the UCC door (very important, as it sometimes does not lock correctly), and the doors at the top and bottom of the stairwell. I cannot stress how important security is at this point in time. It is just before O'day and we have several thousand dollars worth of equipment in the clubroom. If any of this were to go missing, not only would it be a blow to the club, but it would make us look bad for new members on O'day. Please ensure that you take all steps to keep UCC safe. Also, just a quick reminder that tomorrow we will be having the computer-fixer-uper-uper day. I encourage you all to come and help out. Regards, Rowan UCC Vice President PS. For the sake of Unigames, please make sure it is locked at all times. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... We have a good number of working machines and the clubroom is the cleanest it has been in quite some time. I encourage all of you to come along and lend a hand. We'll need people to man the stand on the oval, as well as people up in the clubroom to show new members around.
