Hi All,
So Artemis was a pretty fun game we played at camp.
As a end of exams event, UCC is running a LAN, to play it properly.

Date: Saturday, 24 November 2012
Time: 1PM
It is appreciated if you can RSVP, either by email to
committee at ucc.asn.au,
or on the facebook event.

Details:
Artemis is a game where you simulate the crew a of a starship.
It is for windows though it appears to work aright under wine.
It gets really cool when you have multiple ships.
They can PvP, or help each other out in a tight spot.

- Six people per ship:
captain, helmsman, weapons officer, science officer, engineer, comms.
Potentially, if we have a number of players, that is not a multiple of
6 some ships might get comms and science, to be one person, or similar

- Captain: No computer station, manages everyone else. (Still should
bring a computer)

- Helm: Steers

- Weapons Officer: Shoots torpedoes, drops mines, controls beam weapons
etc

- Comms: communicates with bases and other ships. Can make enemies
surrender. Only person allowed on mumble (intership chat).

- Science: Analysers enemies to workout settings weapons officer need
to break their shields. Gives bearings to helm.

- Engineer: Routes power amounts ship components (think "Power to
manoeuvring thrusters!"). Fixes things when broke.

Current plan is, depending on numbers:
*Ship 1 in the clubroom, on club computers, (please Email if you can't
bring a computer)
*Ships 2 and 3 in the loft, on brought in computers.
*Ship 4 in the Unigames clubroom on laptops.
Please when bring computers bring only one screen (a small one if that
is an option for you). Laptops would be great.

Ship computers are vaguely gathered around a projector/large screen.
Ideally engineers will be positioned in obscure corners of the room, and
potentially supplied with ear-muffs.

If anyone can bring projectors, or large screen monitors, top use a
ships Main View Window,
please let us know

You do not need to own Artemis to attend, (thought If you do have a
licence we'ld like to use it for the duration of the LAN, please contact
us)
it is licensed per ship, so can be shared amongst all players.
At the event there may be a $7 charge to pay for licenses to supporting
the one man dev team that makes Artemis.
There is no DRM so it won't prove a problem like that
We are currently talking to the developer, to see about this.
