Hi all,
Long time, no see!
I'm pleased to announce that the University Computer Club is now ready
to welcome all members back into the clubroom from today (2020-07-24).
Thanks to the efforts of those who volunteered to who help tidy and
rearrange the clubroom to comply with COVID-19 guidelines, we're finally
ready to have you back!
A responsible Door member will need to be present to hold the room open
for you, as always, but we have made a few changes to our usual clubroom
set up to ensure we can offer you a safe space to learn and relax.
New Clubroom Rules
As the clubroom is reopening under the WA Government's Phase 4
requirements, we have some extra obligations to uphold. Door members
have been made aware of the rules already, and will be in charge of
making sure things run smoothly. Right now, the following rules apply to
the clubroom:
If you're sick (especially with a cough or fever), stay home.
There is a strict limit of 11 members in the clubroom at a time. This
one is not negotiable, and Door members will be keeping a close eye on
room occupancy to make sure it's complied with. This limit may be lifted
from Phase 5.
Only sit in designated spots. We've been around the room marking the
desks, chairs and computers with green and red tape, showing where you
can and can't sit, respectively.
Eating is only permitted on the couches. We request no more than 2
people sit on the large couch at any time, and for the small couch, no
more than 1. Physical distancing measures also apply.
Individual users are responsible for cleaning their own keyboards and
mice before and after use. To make sure this happens, peripherals have
been put off to the side on a shelf, and should be placed back there
once you've done. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask the
Door member holding the room.
We'll be cleaning all surfaces frequently with cleaning sprays, wipes,
and isopropyl alcohol. Members are encouraged to use the sanitizer by
the door when they enter and exit the room.
No cash! Unfortunately, our venerable wall safe is going to have to sit
empty for the time being. We'll have the Square card reader available to
use for you to put money on your Dispense account. Ask a Door member and
they'll be happy to help.
All Door members who open the room will have completed the AHA COVID-19
Hygiene Training course.
In light of physical distancing requirements, we have set up a temporary
suite of dual monitors along the west side of the room.
I'll be in this morning to supervise the first day of reopening, and I
hope to see some of you around.
Cheers,
James Arcus
