Hello UniSFAns!
As some of you may know there will be a writing competition starting soon that we are running and it is open for all those who would like to enter. The details for it are below, and for those who use Facebook there is also a link to the event. Prizes will be offered for all streams, including cash prizes for at least the two prose streams! Currently prompt voting is underway until 12 on Saturday the 8th available at:

Hostile worlds, liminal spaces, lush locales, and distant realms...
Creative Writing And Poetry (CWAP) and the University Science Fiction and Fantasy Association (UniSFA) are coming together again to bring you a writing competition themed around "Magical Places, Supernatural Spaces"!
Within this overarching theme, we will also vote for a prompt, which is for those who like having something more to spark a cool idea. Remember that using the prompt in your writing is always optional, though!
There will be three streams of writing: Short Prose, Long Prose, and Poetry. Prizes are up for grabs for all of them! Get excited.
The writing period will be open for three weeks from Dec 8th, once the prompts have been voted for. Facebook no longer lets us make events run for longer than two weeks, so we've set the event to occur at the time that your writing is due in. Be careful not to be confused by this. :)

A Writeoff is made of four parts:
Part 1: Prompt Submission
[Wed 05/12 12pm - Thur 06/12 12pm]
You have 24 hours to submit up to two prompts to this writing competition. What are those prompts? You choose! Just keep in mind that your should aim to fit with the overall "Magical Places, Supernatural Spaces" theme.
Part 2: Prompt Voting
[Thur 06/12 12pm - Sat 08/12 12pm]
Once the prompt submission closes - at midday Thursday - the submissions will be posted in a Google Form. You'll then have a chance to vote for the prompts you would like to become the topic of the competition!
At the end of the 48 hour voting period, the votes will be tallied and the winning prompt announced.
Part 3: Writing, i.e. The Hard Part
[Sat 08/12 12pm - Sat 29/12 5pm]
Once the winning prompt is announced, you will have until Saturday the 29st at 5pm to write your entry.
Your entry may be poem or prose - though keep in mind that different word limits apply to each category!
PROSE
Prose entries fall under two streams, short form (400 - 750 words) and long form (1000 - 8000 words). If you stray outside these boundaries, you'll be . . . disqualified. So try to land between those limits!
POETRY
Poetry entries - on the other hand - have no word limit! You can be as conservative or as liberal with your words as you want!
Part 4: Reviewing and Voting
[Sun 30/12 12pm - Sun 6/1 5pm]
After a short period of frantic formatting, the entries will be uploaded onto the UWACWAP.com website for anyone to read and review.
All writers and poets who entered MUST review two other entries - allocated randomly - or be penalised. Further reviews are not necessary, but highly encouraged!
Voting will be carried out via one or more polls, in which you order stories from favourite to least favourite. Failing to vote also results in a penalty, so don't forget to see what your fellow writers are writing and have your say!
At the end of this period, the votes are collated, and the winners are announced!
