Things for Your Eyes



  *   Annual General Meeting

  *   Our Annual General Meeting is on the 9th of March at 1pm in the Guild Council Room! Come and do a democracy and vote/run for the different committee positions! If you can’t make it and want to vote, please organise proxy votes beforehand and send them through to myself. And a reminder that you have to be a financial member to vote/run for things so buy your membership soon. I hope to see you all there!


  *   Club Re-Opening

  *   Our Club Re-opening is on the 5th of March at 5pm! Come and marvel at our new and improved clubroom, do room related quizzes and drink fake champagne!

1. Committee Reports

President

Compiled the handover doc, general cleaning of clubroom, went to events, the book club for the fresher welcome worked very well, Oday happened, signed up to club carnival, signed up to the alternate club carnival that’s accessible, went to the unigames AGM

Vice President

Went to Oday, went to some screenings, went to fresher welcome, Unigames AGM

Secretary

went to oday, hosted a screening, sent out the AGM agenda, compiled the spotters guide, had the trauma of being asked if we were like the Big Bang Theory at ODay

Treasurer


Harry sent his apologies and this is his report
Deposited o day money, Helped set up Fresher welcome, Hosted Thursday screening,

Librarian

Did a bunch of things, Oday, unigames AGM, ran a screening, ran the full metal screening, found a bunch of the mystery barcode books,  signed unisfa up for UCC this year

Fresher Rep

Katherine sent her apologies but this is her report
I helped out with O-Day, which was a good, met lots of freshers. Printed the fresher and spotters guides for it, I think we overprinted on the fresher guides, I’m not sure how many we have left over though. Probably too many spotters guides too.
Made Facebook event for clubroom reopening, not sure about making one for the ‘fresher brainstorming’ thing, maybe just make a post in the group?
Fresher welcome was a thing. Lots of people came, I mostly just sat in the loft making the fairy bread, but greeted the people around intermittently, they seem like a lovely bunch and I’m excited for them all to be around more. I’ve been telling them about the reopening, hopefully they’ll come. Want to encourage them to nominate for fresher rep - I’ll make a post. They’re certainly alive, and in good numbers (Annique has more details about Fresher Welcome, but the fairy bread went down well, and I’m glad it was a book club, but having enough seats and space is a problem

OCM Report - Finley

Ran a shitpost, went to Unigames AGM, thought about the Room a lot, just working towards the AGM, Oday

Finished the fresher guide, supervised food production at fresher welcome, ODay, made the Facebook page,

Helped out at Oday, guild got back about logos, they had some questions and changes and went through them, should be ready before friday, went to unigames AGM, went to fresher welcome




2. Events

  *   Fresher Welcome recap

  *   went well, a lot of freshers turned up and the book club went pretty well. Should have had more space so next time in the loft, or a picnic or something.
  *   loft would probably have been better but a lot of fresh people were good at finding the clubroom, it was good having strategic places for people to meet freshers,
  *   Just a reminder to not eat or drink while reading a library book
  *   gavin video finding cameron hall

  *   ODay recap

  *   Next time be next to unigames like we should have been
  *   still went quite well despite guild screw up with where we were put
  *   there was an idea put forward by a cameron hall person to make a cameron hall all access membership. It’s an idea to think about at least for next committee
  *   more general fandom stuff as well would be good because a lot of new members may not know the more obscure sci fi/fantasy stuff
  *   Simon wants to talk to more sponsors to get different deals, not just bookstores and maybe branch out some more. Something for the next librarian to think about
  *   recommended book list in the fresher guide worked well, people got into it.

  *   Alternate Club Carnival

  *   One hour event, held indoors and made to be more accessible for people with less crowds and distractions.
  *   held at Laws Moot court
  *   pushing stuff that we do like holding book clubs in accessible locations, welfare week
  *   It would be good to get some large print books as well although would need to work out what ones and where to get them

  *   Prosh

  *   Make an open poll about prosh theme, Jack will be on that

  *   Unigames Election

  *   It happened and now there is a new committee,
  *   Hopefully a similar turnout for ours

  *   Club Reopening

  *   Harry has a list of stuff to buy from Annique
  *   Will be fake champagne and general club interaction

  *   Club Carnival

  *   We’ve signed up for it and have confirmation about it
  *   We’ve got the fresher guides for then
  *   need to start setting up at 10:30, on Oak lawn
  *   All stalls need to be set up by 11:30
  *   bookshelves and bean bags as usual

  *   40th Anniversary

  *   Swan con stuff - 29th March until April 2nd would be a good time to announce different things
  *   need to push next committee on things about it

  *   AGM

  *   Happening in a week and everything is sorted
  *   So far no constitutional amendments



3. Screenings

  *   Monday - Club Re-Opening
  *   Tuesday - Electric Dreams w/Annique
  *   Wednesday - Disney Video Essays w/Simon
  *   Thursday - shitpost live action Teenage Mutant ninja Turtles w/Finley
  *   Friday - Life is Strange w/Finley



4. Tenancy


  *   Fridge

  *   Unigames fridge is out in the hallway, we could get it
  *   We’re okay with getting it so we can have a nice clean fridge

  *   Cupboard reallocations are up

  *   something for next committee to sort through


5. Finance Stuff


     *   Oday grants

     *   Harry has done it and will submit on the 5th when it’s due

     *   Fridge Runs

     *   Harry is doing one saturday to get stuff for fridge and club re-opening things



6. General business

     *   Origami club

     *   They want to do a collaboration event for Star Wars Day
     *   May 4th so after the AGM so can’t lock anything down but still good to keep  in mind in case of a star wars club

     *   Handover

     *   40th anniversary should be put in a lot

     *   Logo

     *   Guild got back to Theo, there were a few questions and criticisms but it will be sorted before the AGM
     *   Theo will follow up on Monday just to be sure

     *   Facebook page

     *   It is up and working pretty well
     *   Should we do screenings on the page? Yes we will, it’s a good way for new people to come in and hear about the club
     *   Making events in the page, and sharing them to the group, if we want to shift we can.
