Hey Nick,
We're in the meeting now so this may all be outdated in roughly an hour but I'll outline the aim and motivations of the change/recommendation
- massively reduce the website (unisfa.ucc.asn.au) content and require less updating.
The wix website only requires updating the committee and CCC pics each year or whenever, which whoever makes the in club posters with the same pics can do, i.e. "new content creators" will be linked to currently made content
- use a far more friendly interface
the wix website can be managed with the google account so each new committee member doesn't need to be added individually as a contributor
- utilise widgets/apps that auto update material
if you look at the website I've made, it includes links to the google drive for our minutes and rules/constitution, as well as Koha and the wiki, and a events calendar that is linked to the Facebook account so anything made on Facebook will be visible on the website.
- so far the website is free but does not allow for a provided domain (I am working on removing my own name from it though). The cheapest option is to have the unisfa.ucc.asn.au address redirect to the wix one (once finalised), otherwise we're looking at $60 USD a year. If committee wishes, they could pay to use the unisfa.ucc address instead.
- the wiki would remain and likely be as un-updated as usual until committee make it a priority
Happy to chat with you further about this, preferably in person, as I won't necessarily understand your objections without elaboration.
I will look into staticgen though.

Nice to see - but...
I'm no great WordPress fan, but Wix is single source,
dynamic-only/Javascript reliant, search-unfriendly; and unless you had:
* a keen new team of content editors;
* with at least a couple who are not due to graduate in 2018 or or 2019
* who all refused to learn the "old" site; and
* would _only_ contribute to a "new" site
...I wouldn't make that move.
Either way, that keen new team is about the only way to get some ongoing
content updates.
If you want an "update", static site generation is the way to get a
simple, fast, secure, re-homeable website these days.
(so many choices: https://www.staticgen.com/ )
Anyone (Nic?) want a busybee to get Nic's new art into a self-hosted site?
For good measure we could take a browse of:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/unisfa.gu.uwa.edu.au
...to make sure we're not missing any content from the previous move.
Also, what are the chances of getting the meeting minutes directly
included on the current site (or any replacement) as plain text or HTML?
The PDF emails suffice, but they're a bit of annoying makework to browse
through/search.
Nick.
