I'm still holding onto my views about slimming down the Fresher's Guide.
I have submitted my plan in an earlier message and some patches to Davyd
(see
http://lists.ucc.asn.au/mailman/private/committee/2004-December/000487.html)
but I can understand that, as in programming, more(1) is simpler than
less(1) when it comes to producing a help document.
I would volunteer to take on this task but I'm really not quite sure that
I'm up to it, and I'm precluded from much more medium-term volunteering
by other commitments.
The idea of a 'love day' for the web site is a good one, although I'd move
that it be held on a Saturday (what about the 5th of February?). I will bring
my digital camera and we can perhaps get a few photos of machines and
people.
Whether a large Freshers Guide is the best one world can offer is an
exercise I leave to the reader.
Cheers,
David Adam
