Leather is easier to keep clean, but will probably not last as long if
people don't look after it. If you can get people to keep their feet
and other assorted crap off of it, it'll probably fare ok though.

There is a leather couch in Unisfa that, aside from existing damage,
has been kept in remarkably good nick. They do have a cloth covering
on it though which might be contributing to it's longevity.

That was my point. The current one wasn't in the best condition when
we got it, but it only took a day or so for it to go from having a
couple of small holes to have a large tear in the fabric. I'm Just
wondering if it's actually in UCC's interest spending the money on a
nice couch when a cheaper one will do just as well and probably last
just as long.

It seems a shame to me, at least, to take a nice couch into UCC when
it could end up somewhere else and be a nice couch much longer. That
said, $300 for two couches is a pretty good buy.
