Matt,
Part of the reason that the Guild encourages (nay, require[sd]) banking with
them is that they earn money off the interest, which is then not passed on
to the clubs but offsets various other things. While I think an external
account is a fantastic idea, I'd also suggest formally applying to the Guild
Executive / Soc to carry this out, noting that exclusive banking with the
Guild was a requirement for affiliation (and therefore grants) when I was
around and still seems to be extant in last years Soc handbook. Noting the
ambiguity, I see no harm in clearing this up.
The level of research you've carried out looks good, however - thanks for
your proactive efforts.
