Hey Felix,
Yup - we are still in. I'll get some stuff together for flyers and such. Although we don't have much of a design / marketing process either. Probably just some logos and a blurb about us.
Either way, lets try and up sell the "startup" angle of the talks and downplay the "data management for government" angle. What we do is probably less critical to a lot of people that what we've learned actually starting and scaling a business.
Cheers,
Sam.

Hi Sam,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, the start of semester has been pretty hectic.
Just checking, are you still interested in running this event in collaboration with UCC?
If that is the case, we will start marketing the talk ASAP, putting up posters and that sort of thing. If you have any existing promotional material that we could use (since we don't have a proper design / marketing process) then that will save us a lot of time.
As for the venue, and attendance, well... I haven't had time to look into anything yet, and there wasn't much time to get oldmittee involved, but I'll put this on the agenda for our next (and first) meeting for the new committee. Hopefully someone will then be happy to volunteer to help us take care of this and assist with the organisational side of things.
Best regards,
Felix

Hey Felix,
That's awesome. We'd be happy to help with this.
At this stage we are still looking at doing something during that week. There is an event on the Friday - UXCamp (https://www.uxcamp.co/) that some of us might attend, but apart from that any day will work well.
Now that Uni is back its probably good to start gauging peoples interest.
* get in touch with the CS Department, and maybe CSSC and gauge their interest (make sure you let them know this is an UCC event. After all this is a promo activity for UCC as well).
* I'll get a bio, company outline and other stuff to you soon, but I'm happy to let UCC design any promo material they think is necessary
* Look into getting an Eventbrite account for UCC (if there isn't one already). Its pretty useful for tracking attendees, and is free if the event is free (which it will be)
* Once the Eventbrite link is up, that will give a good indication of the number of attendees which will help with finding a venue and catering.
If there is anything else I can think of I'll let you know.
I've dropped the committee list so I don't spam them, but add anyones emails back in if they'll be helping with this.
Talk soon.
Cheers,
Sam.

Hi Sam,
Happy new year to you too!
I'm definitely keen to see UCC involved in this and we will do what we can to help.
Since we're all relatively new and don't have much experience organising events like this, any tips you can give us would be most welcome. Needless to say, it would be absolutely fantastic if you are willing to sponsor food/drinks as well.
Just let us know which days during your stay you would consider running the talk and we can sort out a venue and advertising.
Thanks again for this great opportunity.
Best regards,
Felix

Hey Felix,
Happy New Year. Just following up on our emails from late last year.
We are still planning a trip to Perth in May, during the week of the 5th to the 12th.
On the trip will be our team of 4:
* Sam Spencer - Co-founder (Technical) Aristotle Cloud Services
* Lauren Eickhorst - Co-founder (Business) Aristotle Cloud Services
* Harry White - Dev-ops Developer / recent UWA Graduate
* Francisco Gallardo - Full-stack Developer
I'm still keen on giving at talk at UWA with the support of UCC. My suggestion would be a 1-2 hour long session, including a 30 minute talk from myself talking a little bit about the company, but more importantly talking about what goes into founding a business/startup in Australia, building a product, managing open-source and commercial responsibilities and the challenges on moving from a developer to a business role. Introductions from the team, and then a Q&A with the whole team. The Q&A would be useful as I think everyone here has a different perspective on their roles in the company, as well a range of experiences.
The aim would be to give a bit of an overview in the realities of making or working for a startup.
We'd also be happy to sponsor some pizzas and beer (or other catering) for the event as well to help generate interest.
If there is still interest, we'll start build some bios to help you when talking about the event, and we'd be happy to provide some guidance on things we've found useful when holding events like this. If you have any questions either Lauren or I would be happy to help.
Cheers,
Sam.

Hi Sam,
Thanks for getting in touch.
It would be absolutely fantastic if you were able to present a talk, and UCC will be very happy to help organise whatever scale of event you had in mind.
We have been hoping to host a series of tech talks and workshops on various topics during next semester (March to June 2019) but at this stage we haven't discussed any details. We will make sure to keep you in the loop regarding planning these events.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Ahoy UCCans,
I'm a former UCCan (2011-2009), who now resides in Canberra and made the unfortunate decision of founding a startup.
I've spammed the UCC Facebook page with it before - I'm the guy who runs the Aristotle Metadata Registry.
We've been really lucky/busy over the past 6 months with a few large projects with government.
In late April / early May, I'll be travelling back to Perth for a long earned break to catchup with friends, and we're bringing 3 members of the startup over as well.
I (and potentially my co-founder) like to spend some of that time speaking with UCCans about startup life, including:
* What you should think about if you want to found a startup in Australia
* What you should think about if you want to join a startup in general
* What you should think about if you want to join or work with the public service
* What technologies are useful if you want to get an MVP off the ground
Would UCC interested in helping coordinate a talk or too around that time to UCCans/UWA comp-sci students on those topics?
