Hi Rob,
At this point in time we have not contacted the Guild president. Last Monday however, we got in contact with the Guild secretary, SOC president, and SOC secretary regarding another matter. Unfortunately we have yet to hear a response, so we weren't confident that we would hear from them in a timely manner. Given that the IT changes are happening rapidly, it seems like a good idea to contact someone else.
Yours sincerely,
TimothyVice President UCC

The UCC system administration group has been navigating this issue to the best of their ability, however we've been unsettled by the distinct impression that ITS incorrectly views UCC as "just another computer lab", and is thus interested in blocking inbound network traffic to our club.

Particularly as the educational value UCC provides to students depends on this, and the decades of vocational training in the areas that the Guild and UWA have recently felt forced to outsource would not be possible without an inbound connection. One example which springs to mind of where this has been of massive benefit to a UCC member is the PhD of Lyndon White, who used large amount of UCC "machine time" (computational resources) and network traffic for his doctorate.
