The NextGen Women program is an exciting global competition and opportunity for talented female students offering the chance to:

Applicants respond to two questions, one short-answer and one video based, demonstrating your understanding of the broader business environment and building a better working world, and you could win a paid internship in EY Strategy and Transactions.

Applications open are now and close on Friday 31 March 2023.
► Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email with a link to complete the competition questions in the competition platform, HireVue
► The HireVue platform will close on Monday 3 April 2023
► All entries will be carefully reviewed by our judges from the Strategy and Transactions team
► Shortlisted candidates will participate in the Regional Finals events, held in the week commencing 8 May 2023 across our EY Oceania offices
► Regional winners will be awarded a paid internship in EY Strategy and Transactions and will progress to the Oceania Final taking place in our Sydney office on Wednesday 28 June 2023
► Our panel of judges will declare an Oceania winner who, in addition to their internship, will receive a mentoring session, secure a future graduate role in EY Strategy and Transactions and will represent EY Oceania in the global competition in late 2023
► 2nd and 3rd place Oceania finalists will receive a mentoring session with a senior member of the EY Strategy and Transactions team in addition to their internship.

This competition is open to:
► Women students who are currently enrolled in and on track to complete their studies between 2024-2026 (any degree discipline)
► Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent residents

What was the highlight of joining the competition?
Connecting with a diverse group of women from around Australia and New Zealand, getting to know them and staying connected after the competition. I have really enjoyed seeing where they all ended up for internships and grad roles on LinkedIn and look forward to reconnecting in the future.
What do you think is the impact of holding these competitions for female students wanting to pursue a professional career?
Firstly, these sorts of competitions allow female students to develop their confidence and network in the professional world by meeting a broad range of women in the competition and at EY. The competition celebrated female participation, which encouraged me to take confidence in the skills/knowledge I had developed at university and not undervalue what I could do with those skills when it came to the case.
It was quite impactful to see the other participants also share this experience as we reflected on the competition together and shared notes on how we used our disciplinary skills to solve the case. It was also really encouraging to meet female EY staff and partners who demonstrated the broad range of career opportunities and journeys available to women and could speak to their experience in the professional sphere.
What are the benefits of being part of the competition as a participant, and as a SAT sub-service line?
As a participant, I was able to test the skills I have picked up at university in a real-world scenario of professional work and get exposure to the sorts of work my degree/discipline could be used in. The competition also allowed me to see the range of other disciplines that are utilised for different pieces of work and how multi-disciplined teams can work in practice.
Another huge benefit was getting to know the sorts of work EY is involved in and gaining insight into the structure of the SaT service line, including the range of sub-service lines that have internship opportunities. This definitely helped when it came to applying for an internship at EY and understanding which sub-service lines I was interested in. Overall, the most significant benefit was coming away with a renewed sense of confidence and a great network of female professionals to keep in touch with.
