theodore: Let me put you out of your misery and say that nothing you could possibly do would make that design look better than the current one.

Basically, come up with a better design, and people will be won over. Otherwise, it will be rejected. Some people do webdesign, some don't. I don't do webdesign, I can judge and apply templates. I know my limitations.
