Iirc, irix doesn't like talking to a NIS server on a different vlan,
which means azure isn't happy talking to morwong. We got around this by
having piggery being a nis slave on the clubroom vlan. When morwong
died and piggery was assimilated, seriola took over the job. With
seriola dead (as it is at present), Azure has no logins.

Of the other boxes on the clubroom vlan, I wouldn't want to set the
thinterms up as NIS slaves, or arctic for that matter. So the question
is, do we have a box on the clubroom vlan that we trust enough to be a
nis slave?
