Hi all,
[TRS] spent most of yesterday evening fiddling with our Sun gear. Thanks
to assistance from a certain corporate operative who will remain nameless,
we acquired an upgrade to Musundo's CPU board (it now has dual US-III
1.2GHz CPUs and 4GB of RAM). He also discovered that the problems with
Musundo were, in fact, due to software and to user error. After rebuilding
the boot archive and learning all about bootadm, he managed to get the
entire thing back online.
I spent this morning migrating /services back and re-enabling NFS: to this
end /away is available again (meaning clubroom NFS and Windows home
directories are too). /services is now back on the FC array.
We've also spent some time building up Manduba with the parts from Manbo,
ready for a potential deployment to a server room elsewhere on campus.
Unfortunately two of the boards were unusable, so it is currently running
6 x 2 US-IIs, 11ish GB of RAM and one of the D1000 disk arrays.
Thanks for your patience with UCC services over the last few weeks -
hopefully we'll have stability for a little while now. Big thanks to [TRS]
for working on it all and to [NTU] and [TDH] for their assistance and
guidance.
