[tech] Robot project

Hi,m

 

Im interested in making a Robot. Something similar to NurseBot but a little
quicker.

 

Using all open source software, Relatively cheap parts such as Alu frame and
re-using parts from old UCC projects.

 

Webcam for eyes, Utrasonic sensors for distance measurement, a MiniITX Via
Eden board as its brain, Powered from a 12v SLA Battery.

 

I will pitch in:

20W Solar Panels

Aluminium Rods/square

12v SLA battery

Some wheels

Via Eden board and power supply (8.8Watts total board usage), Drive, Ram
etc.

NextG+Sim Card and GPS Modules (Serial)

$50 To get this off the ground

 

If you are interested I want to get some designs done up this week from you
all, And we can try put the base of it together on the hardware hacking
night.

 

The robot will know where to go around UWA, And perhaps talk to people.???
Self Sufficient, If the battery voltage is low it can park itself in the sun
and boost. We probably don't want to leave this alone but you get the idea.

 

The robot would probably be about 1.2 Metres tall have blue eyes brown hair
and a fair complexion and enjoy long rolls along the beach...
