Dear members,

As I write to you, the extent of yesterdays wild storm damage is becoming fully apparent.

1. Clubroom

I'm pleased to say that while UCC has sustained some serious damage, the efforts of a dedicated team who have worked throughout the day mean that UCC is now out of the woods - there's a lot of work to do before the clubroom can be restored to anything close to its former state.

UCC now has what I believe are water tight windows. However, the skylight above the clubroom is still open (as you can imagine, Facilities Management have been swamped today) - we'll be chasing this up tomorrow. Revised forecasts seem to suggest we will dodge anymore rain this evening.

Please note that the Guild have not reopened Cameron Hall yet as debris could still fall from skylights and glass shards are still scattered around the place. Keep an eye on IRC and Twitter (Details below) to learn when this changes.

2. Services

The Faculty of Arts and IT Services Networks team have been very helpful in getting us back online. UCC mail + DNS (Mooneye) and ssh + home directories on Martello are available.

More services will be made available as we get space in alternate data centres (or if we can get UCCs clubroom made active again quickly).

3. Communications/Contact

There are a number of ways to keep up with information - this will be my one and only email to the ucc-announce list for now.

	1. IRC: If you would like to catch up with us on IRC, a channel (#ucc) exists on irc.walan.org.
	2. Twitter: http://twitter.com/ucc_status
	3. Web: http://ucc.mattdidcoe.com
	4. Email: If you have an urgent need to contact the club, please email committee at ucc.asn.au.

Thank you for your support thus far - as mentioned, we aim to have the clubroom declared safe and reopened soon.

On a personal note, my thoughts are with those who have serious damage to their homes/cars and my thanks go to all who have assisted over the last two days and I'm sure will continue to give their time.

Kind Regards,
