Hi everyone,
Please read the following which is proposed to be the primary object
of the Computer Club, should all go forth with our incorporation:
1. To be an organised association of students attending The University
of Western Australia, and supporters, for the advancement of computer
science and technologies, both at the University and in the broader
community.
To advertise our intent to incorporate, the primary object needs to be
finalised as the Department of Commerce look at what was advertised
and what we have in our submission.
For the purposes of moving this process forward, any objections to the
above listed object are required by 5pm AWST Wednesday, November 3
2010. At this time, the object will be finalised and we will move
forth with an ad in a newspaper yet to be determined (either The West
Australian or the Western Suburbs Weekly). Objections after this time
are not guaranteed consideration as if we let this drag on and on,
we'll end up in the same position as we have every other time the idea
of incorporation has come up.
If you have an objection, please register it with the UCC Committee by
emailing committee-only at ucc.asn.au.
I thank everyone who has put forth opinions thus far, given the
importance of the Constitution to the smooth governing of the club, it
is important to have informed and thorough debate on the topic.
For those about to enter the examination period, my best wishes - I
hope the period will be stress free and produce satisfying results.
Stay tuned for news on the UCC dinner, which is being held slightly
later this year so it can be a bit more of a end-of-year/Christmas
function to celebrate what has been a very challenging year for the
club.
Thanks,
Matt Didcoe
