[ucc-announce] Exams, upcoming events and works

Some of you might have had an exam or two by now - hopefully things
are proceeding well. For those with exams over the next two weeks,
best of luck to you! I hope you've managed to glean enough to pass -
remember: "Ps get degrees".

Once November 28 rolls around however, you'll no doubt feel empty,
lonely and perhaps even a little adrift. Fear not, UCC has the answer.

UCC End of Exam LAN
==================

We'll be holding another LAN on December 10, doors open 4pm.

I'm reliably informed there will be TF2 and ET comps. RSVP to
lan at ucc.asn.au so we can get an idea of numbers for tables etc.

Clubroom access
==================

The UCC clubroom will also be open as regularly as possible over the
Christmas/New Year break - check http://webcam.ucc.asn.au though to
avoid disappointment.

Projects / works
==================

There's a bevy of projects planned for these holidays which you'll no
doubt here more about in due course. Pay attention as some might
affect you!

1) Coke machine re-work: [BOB] and others will be tinkering with the
coke machine internals, this will mean your favourite beverage
dispenser will be offline for a period.
2) SMS screen: There's rumours that [DJA] will be looking at a new SMS
screen these holidays to replace the one that was previously stolen.
3) Network works: Some recabling, changes to internal
switching/routing and potentially a cut-over to the new UWA core
network. Will involve downtime on all services at some point, watch
twitter.com/ucc_status for live updates.

There might be some pizza/drinks nights as well so watch the ucc at ucc
mailing list and IRC (irc.ucc.asn.au/#ucc).
