[ucc-announce] Loss of UCC clubroom

Dear UCCans,

We have recently been informed by Guild Tenancy that our clubroom application was unsuccessful. Pending appeal we are facing losing our clubroom within the next few weeks. This will effectively kill the club, and hence we are relying on all members, past and present, to do everything in their power to help support the club through this very short appeal period (ends this Friday the 20th).
Unfortunately, from Tenancy’s letter, it appears that there are some fundamental misconceptions about UCC underlying the decision.
Tenancy has offered a clubroom in the Guild Commercial Space (same as last year) however we do not yet any specifics. Depending on what the details of this up being this may become the most attractive option.
The committee will be dogmatically pursuing all possible avenues that leave UCC with a clubroom. These avenues are currently in the form of appeals to guild, and investigation of alternative clubroom options. If you or your colleagues are able to help with this or support the club in any other way, please contact committee-only at ucc.asn.au.
As the UCC community (should you be interested) there are ways you can help, namely.
All members We cannot emphasis enough the importance of staying calm, and civil throughout this process. Any aggressive behaviour from our members will harm our relation with guild and tenancy.
As a current student If UCC has had a beneficial impact on you, consider writing a statement of support to the Guild.
