Hello everyone! Here are the amendments that have been proposed for
tomorrow's AGM:
I propose that 5.6.5. be removed entirely, as it is a duplicate of 5.6.4
There's also a formatting issue in 6.5.5., where the indenting is
> inconsistent
15.1.2.1. The term 'maintain' where used throughout this constitution shall
> include the option of disposing of 'doubles' and other undesirable Library
> items by an appropriate method selected by the committee on a case by case
> basis. 100% of any monies raised shall be earmarked for improving the
> library
> and attendant materials, should instead read The term 'maintain' where
> used throughout this constitution shall include disposing of doubles;
> weeding undesired or excessively superfluous items to preserve space,
> according to committee's weeding regulations; promoting access to the
> library visually, physically, and electronically; and improving library
> operation and management systems.
15.1.2.2. The term 'double' in this context refers to library items of
> which UniSFA
> possesses two or more copies. The decision of which copy (or copies) will
> be disposed of is to be made by the librarian in discussion with Committee,
> having regard to the value, condition, or other significance of the items,
> the
> most desirable to be retained for the UniSFA library, should read: The
> term 'double' in this context refers to library items of which UniSFA
> possesses two or more copies, and donations to the library which have been
> rejected by the Librarian. Where applicable and reasonably practical, they
> will be offered to the donor. Else, they may be disposed of as per 16.2.
Proposal to change 16. from 'Disposition of Library Items' to 'Disposal of
> Library Items', for clarity
Also, according to your last OGM, 16.3.1 should read "shall" rather than
> "should"
I propose to change 16.2 to read as follows, in conjunction with my
> proposed change to 15.1.2.2.: "Doubles" may be disposed of with
> consideration as per 15.1.2.2., by the Librarian in discussion with
> Committee, having regard to the value, condition, or other significance of
> the items, the most desirable to be retained for the UniSFA library
Remove "for an appropriate purpose" from 16.3
16.3.1. A list of the items and the reasoning for their removal from the
> Library should be made available to the club, both physically and digitally
> via the UniSFA notice boards, for consideration and appeal of removal from
> the Library for at least two weeks after committee approves their disposal,
> to now read: A list of the items and the reasoning for their proposed
> removal from the Library should be made available to the club, both
> physically and digitally via the UniSFA notice boards, for consideration
> and appeal of removal from the Library for at least two weeks after
> committee approves their proposed disposal
16.3.2. Should an item receive appeals by five (5) or more members it must
> be retained in the Library’ to change the vote, should instead read:
> 16.3.2. Should an item receive appeals by five (5) or more members it must
> be retained in the Library
I propose that in 16.3.3. 'appeals' be changed to 'appealed items' or
> 'items with appeals' otherwise it reads as you not disposing of appeals and
> that "after the appeals period ends" be added after "committee meeting," so
> it has a full chance to meet 16.3.2. before reconsideration. 16.3.3. Except
> those subject to section 16.3.2, [items with] appeals must be reconsidered
> by Committee at the next committee meeting [after the appeals period ends]
> and not disposed of until after another successful two-thirds majority vote
> of Committee
16.3.4. Any item not disposed of in this way must be retained as described
> in 16.3.3 or 16.3.2 until at least two Annual General Meetings have
> occurred, before it may be eligible for further consideration, to now
> read: Any item in receipt of between one and four appeal(s) not disposed of
> must be retained until at least two Annual General Meetings have occurred,
> before it may be eligible for further consideration.
16.3.5 Any item disposed of in this way must first be offered to the donor,
> where reasonably practicable, and then the membership at no cost. Otherwise
> they may be disposed of by another appropriate purpose including donation
> to charity, use as prizes at UniSFA Quiz Nights, and so forth, to read: Any
> item disposed of in this way must first be offered to the donor, where
> applicable and reasonably practicable, and then the membership at no cost
> for at least four weeks. If any item(s) remains unclaimed after this
> period, it may be disposed of by the librarian without consideration.
16.3.6. To account for the removal of library items from the Library, a
> number of new items must be obtained no less than one-fifth as many of the
> total items removed and added to the Library. This is in addition to the
> requirements of section 15.1.3, to now read, 16.3.6. 100% of any monies
> raised from disposal of library items shall be earmarked for improving the
> library and attendant materials.
