What is the Australian Government ICT Cadetship Program?
The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Cadetship Program is a federal government recruitment initiative that targets University students who have completed their first year (full-time equivalent) of an undergraduate degree in ICT, or an undergraduate degree with an ICT major. It is an exciting opportunity for undergraduate University students who are interested in working in ICT to learn technical skills and theories, as well as gain a formal qualification and valuable workplace experience.
The Program is structured to support students in their transition between study to work, and provides up to 3 years of development activities to equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to become high quality ICT professionals.
Cadets are employed at the APS2 level within a participating Australian Government agency, and work a minimum of 2 days per week. The remainder of their time is dedicated towards their University study, which should take a minimum of 1.5 years and a maximum of 3 years to complete. Cadets will also receive a generous study allowance to support their University costs.
How can students apply?
Applications for the 2013 Program are open now and close at 11:30pm (AEST) on Friday, 10 August 2012. Students can apply online at https://finance.nga.net.au. Successful students will then start work in late January 2013.
How can I help?
In 2013 we have 36 positions available in Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney in 10 different Australian Government agencies.
So how can you can help us to spread the word about this amazing opportunity? I've attached a copy of our promotional brochure and poster to this email, and would ask that you make these available to interested students via email, your careers centre/hub, at careers expos and through ICT lectures and tutorials.
Where can students find more information?
For more information students can check out our website www.australia.gov.au/ictentrylevel<http://www.australia.gov.au/ictentrylevel> and like us on Facebook www.facebook.com/ictentrylevel<http://www.facebook.com/ictentrylevel> for updates on the recruitment process and tips on how to apply.
