Hi Omar and Jacob,
Just following up from our initial email on Friday in response to the
result of our Tenancy application. Having read through the letter from
Tenancy in detail, we would like a chance to discuss and gain more
clarity on a few points raised in the letter.
In particular, the letter makes reference to “compliance issues relating
to additions made to the clubroom”. UCC has never been contacted about
any compliance issues, by the Guild or any other body. It is not
possible to effectively address these allegations in any appeal when the
details are not made available to us. The clubroom has been visited by
representatives from Tenancy, the University and contractors on many
occasions in the past and no compliance issues have been raised with us.
Likewise, we are unsure of what the multiple instances of member
misconduct are referring to. There was only one instance mentioned in
the application, and Tenancy's resolution of the incident found there
was no wrongdoing on the part of UCC, that our handling of the situation
was satisfactory, and that it wasn't to be marked against UCC in future
considerations. We are not aware of receiving any other communications
from Tenancy advising of other issues.
In the case that our appeals are unsuccessful and UCC is required to
vacate the clubroom, we also need to discuss the considerable
undertaking required to relocate UCC’s infrastructure. We are grateful
for the offer of assistance, and will at some point need to come to a
mutual understanding of what the process will involve.
In light of Wednesday’s Tenancy consultation meeting being postponed
with no new date currently set, we would appreciate, while understanding
time constraints on your schedule, being able to meet as soon as
reasonablypossible.
Many thanks,
James Arcus /UCC President/
