Hello

One additional twist to my USB memory stick problem. If I boot with the 
kernel that was in
David B's tarball (2.4.18-bf2.4), instead of the kernel in his.deb file 
(2.4.22), my memory stick works perfectly.
Also my 3Com USB/ethernet adaptor (3C19250) now works fine.

This seems to suggest that it is not a hardware problem as such, but 
possibly a problem with my install of the
2.4.22 kernel deb file or the compile configuration of the 2.4.22 kernel.
